Florian Gonon will get the perfect opportunity to take the lead of the IRC Production Cup standings outright when he contests Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc this week.

The Swiss won the division on the season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo in January at the wheel of his Annie Spiers Rallye Team Subaru Impreza WRX.

Jose Barrios then took the class spoils on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés last month to move joint top with Gonon in the table.

However, with Spaniard Barros not competing in Corsica, Gonon can move clear with a strong result on the island event.

Gonon, who will be co-driven by Sandra Arlettaz, will face opposition from several Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer drivers including Jean-Marc Sanchez and Irishman Eamonn Boland.

Following his appearance in Corsica Gonon plans to contest Geko Ypres Rally in June and September’s Rallye Sanremo, the final all-asphalt round of the 2011 IRC season.
