Florian Gonon’s first appearance in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in a Super 2000 car is already over after he rolled on Friday’s opening stage.
Gonon, the runner-up in the IRC Production Cup in 2011, has switched from a Subaru Impreza to a Peugeot 207 S2000 run by the French Saintéloc Racing operation for a three-event IRC campaign.
However, the Swiss driver’s Ypres Rally bid came to an end when he went off on a right-hand bend two corners into the opening stage and rolled twice.
It is understood that Gonon and co-driver Sandra Arlettaz were unhurt.
