Florian Gonon will make his first appearance in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in a Super 2000 car when he contests the Geko Ypres Rally in a Peugeot 207.

Gonon, runner-up in last season’s IRC Production Cup in a Subaru, is tackling selected rounds of the IRC in 2012 with the Saintéloc Racing-Mister Auto team.

He said: “I’m just a privateer. I’m coming to Ypres for the third time as my main sponsor, Annie Spiers, is Belgian. The route is very specialised. Compared to the mountains I have at home in Switzerland, it’s very different! I don’t know the Peugeot very well at all. I only got to discover it recently at home, but I’ve only just had 100 kilometres or so of experience. I’m here for the driving of course, but also for the atmosphere. I love the fact that this town gives itself entirely over to the rally for the week.”
