Florian Gonon is due to return to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on Barum Czech Rally Zlín later this month following his early exit on the Geko Ypres Rally in June.
Gonon, runner-up in the IRC Production Cup in 2011, is contesting a partial IRC campaign with the French Saintéloc Racing operation at the wheel of a Peugeot 207 Super 2000.
Following his retirement on the opening stage in Ypres, Swiss driver Gonon said: “It was a real shame to retire so soon on an event that was so important. The tyres were undoubtedly a bit too cold at the beginning of the stage. The car slid and I wasn’t able to get it back. We rolled three times. Luckily we didn’t hurt ourselves. I feel very sorry for our partners and for the Saintéloc team, which made such big efforts to ensure that we started the rally with a really good possibility of doing well.”
