Go Fast Energy World Rally Team’s Henning Solberg was on familiar ground today as the first day of competition at Rally Sweden centred on stages around his native Norway. Overcoming a far from perfect road position, Solberg and co-driver Ilka Minor hold sixth place overall as the second round of the season embarks on Day 2.

Running early, Solberg was hindered by the vast amounts of snow – effectively clearing the road for those behind. But with the Norwegian’s home stages lined with supportive fans, Solberg battled on to set competitive times throughout the day.

Looking to tomorrow, Solberg and Minor will be keen to build on their impressive run as they focus on a strong haul of points.

Henning Solberg (6th) said: “I think we’ve had a really good afternoon. Ok, we have not closed the gap so much, but I think my start position was not so good. We were still clearing snow – a lot on the last stage [SS9] – which lost us a lot of time.

“Tomorrow we ‘Go Fast’ – flat-out!”
