Rob Huff is used to winning in the FIA World Touring Car Championship but victory on employer Honda’s home turf would be the ultimate WTCC triumph.

The 2012 WTCC champion is in his first season driving for the Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team and starts WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan this weekend on the back of an impressive podium double in Argentina at the start of August.

“While I’ve raced in Japan many times – and won there in the WTCC – this will be the first time I’ve done so for a Japanese manufacturer,” said the Briton. “With this in mind, I’d love to give what I’m sure will be a big crowd of Honda fans something to cheer about.”

Huff will arrive at Twin Ring Motegi, 145 kilometres north of the Japanese capital Tokyo, fourth in the WTCC standings, nine points shy of team-mate second-placed Honda team-mate Tiago Monteiro.

“The double podium in Argentina was just the boost I needed ahead of the final third of the season,” said Huff. “Motegi is one of the best circuits on the calendar for racing as it’s nice and wide and there are several big braking zones that create good overtaking opportunities.”
