Accomplished Japanese racer Ryo Michigami will have no problem adapting to the bumper-to-bumper battles in the FIA World Touring Car Championship when he makes his debut in the all-action series next month.

That’s according to 2012 world champion Rob Huff, who forms part of the factory Honda squad Michigami will join for WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan from 2-4 September.

Huff explained: “I had the pleasure of meeting Ryo when he was testing in Barcelona recently and helping him a little bit. He got on very well in the test, he’s got some raw speed and will be absolutely fine when he makes his WTCC debut. He just needs to get stuck in, get involved and not be scared.”

Michigami’s addition to the works Honda line-up means there will be four factory Civic WTCCs on track at Twin Ring Motegi with Norbert Michelisz and Tiago Monteiro completing the all-star attack. Michelisz claimed the outright DHL pole position at WTCC Race of Japan last season, while Monteiro won the weekend’s second race.
