Organisers of the centenary edition of Rallye Monte-Carlo, the opening round of next year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge, have confirmed that they have received more than 250 registrations for the legendary event.

With only 100 crews permitted to start the rally, organiser the Automobile Club de Monaco, will have to turn away a large number of competitors to the extent that it is already looking at increasing the maximum number of starters to 150 in 2012.

Some of the highlights among the entries received so far include Škoda Motorsport’s defending IRC champion Juho Hänninen, 2008 title-holder Nicolas Vouilloz, Peugeot’s rising star Thierry Neuville, IRC event winner Bruno Magalhães, French rallying legend François Delecour and seven-time world champion co-driver Daniel Elena.

Entries close on 6 December after which the selection committee will meet to determine the 100 successful applicants.
