“We’re a little bit more confident now”

Defending IRC 2WD Cup champion Harry Hunt turned to Thierry Neuville to help him prepare for this week’s Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc.

Briton Hunt, 22, recruited Neuville to accompany him during a pre-event test in Italy last weekend on roads similar to those that will be used on round three of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Neuville, a double podium finisher in the IRC with Team Peugeot-Belgium Luxembourg, helped to develop the Citroen DS3 R3 that Hunt is using this season following his switch from an M-Sport Ford
Fiesta R2.

Iwan Evans, Hunt’s team manager, explained: “We made some significant improvements in our braking technique, and also experimented with some set-up options for Tour de Corse. We have never competed in Corsica before, but we’re a little more confident now after a productive day of testing.”

Hunt bagged a top six finish on the previous round in Canary Islands and Evans hopes that his driver will make more progress in Corsica.

We’re now getting much closer to the pace we need to be at, but chasing those last few seconds per kilometer is the most difficult and it’s all down to experience. But if we want to regain our IRC 2WD Cup title then we must accomplish this.”
