Harry Hunt says his retirement on the Geko Ypres Rally is forgotten and that he is now focused on getting his IRC 2WD Cup title bid back on track when he makes his Rally San Marino debut this week.

Briton Hunt was on course for a podium finish in the hotly contested category in Belgium last month only for an electrical fault to lead to his premature exit.

“I’m keen to put our bad luck in Ypres behind us and concentrate on this rally,” said the 23-year-old. “We’d been leading the IRC 2WD Cup before our retirement and now we lead it jointly alongside Estonia’s Martin Kangur, but I’m confident we are still on track for a top result in the championship, which is our aim this year.”

He continued: “San Marino is a new event for me but we enjoyed a gravel test at Sweet Lamb in Wales [last weel] which helped me find a good set-up for the first IRC gravel event since the Azores back in February.”
