Harry Hunt says he won’t give up on his bid to become the first driver to win the IRC 2WD Cup twice without putting up a firm defence in the wake of strong opposition from close rival Robert Consani.

Frenchman Consani, in a Renault Mégane RS, has trimmed Hunt’s advantage to a solitary point with three rounds remaining, starting with the Intercontinental Rally Challenge’s maiden visit to Bulgaria for the Mabanol Sliven Rally this week.

“I won’t give up without a fight,” said 24-year-old Briton Hunt. “It will be interesting between myself and Robert. I’ve had to miss the last couple of IRC rounds so the championship has become really close since my last event in Romania. Robert’s Renault is well suited to asphalt but I’m looking forward to a close battle.”
