Hyundai Motorsport driver Dani Sordo will be forced to skip the next round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) – Rally Sweden - after the Spaniard sustained injuries when he fell off his mountain bike during a training session.

Sordo has been diagnosed with two broken ribs as a result of the incident that happened while he was training at home in Spain.

The team was informed by Sordo yesterday and wish him a quick recovery. It is expected that he will be fit to return for Rally Mexico.

Hyundai Motorsport can confirm that Hayden Paddon and John Kennard will take over in the #8 Hyundai i20 WRC for Rally Sweden alongside Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul in the #7, both competing for the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team.

The team’s test driver Kevin Abbring and co-driver Sebastian Marshall will make their debut for the Hyundai Mobis World Rally Team taking over from Paddon in the #20 car.

Team Principal Michel Nandan said: “First of all we would like to send our best wishes to Dani for a quick recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in the car. We have decided that it’s best for Dani to miss Sweden in order for him to recover and to be 100% fit for Rally Mexico next month. Hayden will take over in the #8 car in Sweden driving for the Hyundai Shell World Rally Team alongside Thierry. We have also opted to run Kevin in the #20 car so we can continue with our three car approach to this second rally of the 2015 season.”
