Yeray Lemes has moved to joint top of the IRC 2WD Cup drivers’ standings following his class victory on Rally Islas Canarias last weekend.

Lemes, who hails from Lanzarote, dominated the two-wheel drive division in his M-Sport Ford Fiesta R2, beating fellow Nupel Rally Team pilot Enrique Cruz by almost two minutes.

The Canary Islander’s victory means there have been four different winners in as many rounds of the series after Kris Princen, Marcus Tokarski and Rafael Tulio won in Monte Carlo, Curitiba and Argentina respectively.

Despite his success, 22-year-old Lemes is unlikely to tackle any further rounds of the series this season due his commitments in the Junior World Rally Championship.
