György Aschenbrenner, racing under the nickname ´Asi´, took a commanding victory in the IRC Production Cup section of the Canon Mecsek Rallye.

In fact, the Ralliart Lancer Evolution IX driver gave many of his Super 2000-equipped competition a lesson in how to tackle the Hungarian stages, regularly finishing inside the top 10 and taking sixth place overall.

"The Hungarian championship was my focus, but obviously it’s exciting to be part of a competitive international field and to compete with the best," he said.

Dávid Botka won the prologue and ran second in the opening day, but he was ultimately overhauled by Beppo Harrach, also driving a Ralliart Lancer Evolution IX.

"There were about 21 Super 2000 cars ahead of us at the start," said Harrach, "so to finish inside the top 10 overall was more than we could ever have imagined."
