Matthias Kahle, who scored points on two rounds of last year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge driving a ŠKODA Auto Deutschland Fabia Super 2000, has described the disappointment he felt following his early exit from Dakar 2012 last week.
German Kahle is a regular on the gruelling cross-country rally in South America and had been looking to continue to his run of success in the buggy category.
However, a terminal engine failure forced his retirement on the second day of the event.
“The disappointment runs deep that after only two days the Dakar is over,” said Kahle. “The engine is unfortunately the only component we cannot change so there was no opportunity to continue.”
Although Kahle, a multiple German rally champion, has indicated his desire to return to the IRC in 2012 he has yet to announce any firm plans.
