Jan Kopecky and his factory Skoda Motorsport team are braced for a tough test when the Intercontinental Rally Challenge resumes in Corsica today, Thursday.

The Czech, runner-up on the last round in Canary Islands, says the format of the Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc, will make for a difficult event for him and his team.

“This rally will certainly not be an easy one, mainly because IRC events are usually simpler in terms of logistics, whereas this event will take us all over the island”, said Kopecky. “Furthermore, the programme extends from early mornings till late evenings, and the whole team will have to keep moving all the time. All that will have an impact on our performance, because we won’t do much sleeping.”

Kopecky has prior experience of competing in Corsica but says preparation will be key.

“I appeared in Corsica in the past, but this year’s rally is completely different as far as the stages
[are] concerned. Furthermore, the event takes place in mountains where the drivers can’t see [round the] bends, so the quality of our preparation will be an important factor.”
