Jan Kopecký has praised his Škoda Motorsport mechanics for keeping him in the fight for Sata Rallye Açores glory.

Kopecký is second overall on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event in his Fabia S2000 after six stages but said it had taken a huge effort by his mechanics to restore his car to full working order during Thursday evening’s 20-minute service in Ponta Delgada.

“The car is really good now thanks to the team,” said the Czech Republic driver. “They changed the clutch and also the steering because we had a problem with the pressure. It was really good by them. The problem now is to catch Bruno [Magalhães] won’t be easy because he knows each corner of the stages so well. But there is a long way to go and it is important not to make any mistakes. We will try our best.”
