Robert Kubica’s possible full-time switch to rallying would be good news for the sport according to his friend Michal Kosciuszko.

Kosciuszko is one of Poland’s best rally drivers and is a friend of Kubica, a fellow native of the city of Krakow.

Speaking to WRC.com, Kosciuszko, who finished fourth in this year’s FIA Production Car World Rally Championship standings, said: "It’s good to have Robert back in motorsport and most probably he’s thinking about rallying now than Formula One. Hopefully we will see him in some championships next year and I keep my fingers crossed for him because he’s a very talented driver, everybody knows that."

Kosciuszko, who is hoping to continue in the WRC next season, added: "For sure having him in rallying will increase the popularity of the sport. I like him as a person and it will be good to have him back in the game."

Kubica, who won a Formula One grand prix with BMW Sauber in 2008 before suffering career-threatening arm injuries in a crash on a rally last year, is tackling rallies in Italy and France over consecutive weekends in a Citroen C4 WRC. His programme for 2013 remains unclear.
