Contrary to the information released earlier today (22 December) Kronos Racing remains committed to the 2012 Intercontinental Rally Challenge and is actively working on plans to contest all rounds of next year’s series.

While Kronos partner Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg will only contest selected rounds of the IRC in 2012, Kronos Racing is currently in discussion with several drivers over more expansive IRC programmes for next season and is certainly not taking a sabbatical from the all-action competition.

Joint Kronos boss Marc van Dalen explained: “We have cars capable of winning rallies and the personnel in place with all the experience necessary to be very successful in the IRC. While Peugeot
Belgium-Luxembourg, with whom we maintain a very strong relationship, won’t be doing as many events in 2012, Kronos is in talks with drivers and other partners about competing in the IRC with our team in 2012.”

Kronos remains one of the most successful teams in the IRC having guided Nicolas Vouilloz and Kris Meeke to back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Other drivers to have won for the squad in the IRC include Juho Hanninen, Freddy Loix and Thierry Neuville.

Kronos is also planning to contest other major international rally championships in 2012 in addition to a programme in the Czech Republic national championship with its fleet of Peugeot 207 Super 2000s.
