Polish star withdraws Rally Argentina entry

Robert Kubica has withdrawn his entry from Rally Argentina (23 - 26 April) to restructure his RK World Rally Team before returning to the FIA World Rally Championship for the next round in Portugal.

Kubica announced his decision this afternoon (Monday) ahead of tomorrow’s start of the recce for the fourth round of the season.

The Pole, whose team was only formed shortly before January’s opening round of the year in Monte-Carlo, believes a step back now will provide improved performance, operation and organisation in future rallies.

He is adamant his team, which is run by Italian company A-Style, needs substantial reorganisation.

“This has been a very difficult decision to take,” he said. “We have always planned to compete in Rally Argentina and although part of the team, including the car, is already on site, it was necessary to skip this event.

“It is a real challenge to compete in the World Rally Championship and although I won six stages in the first three rounds, we have to be realistic and focus on improving the team in many areas.

“We plan to come back for the Rally de Portugal with a different structure, which will be systematically fine-tuned. I would like to ask all our fans for understanding and I want to thank them for their support,” he added.
