Ocean Racing Technology’s GP2 contender, Jon Lancaster, has been forced to step aside for the first, of a two round schedule at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The former World Series by Renault race winner, who signed a late deal to compete in the series with Tiago Monteiro’s Ocean Racing Technology outfit, initially impressed despite his lack of running time in GP2 machinery, but has been forced to take this late decision due to budgetary issues.

“We feel that it was a necessity to be clear to all parties about this situation that has occurred,” said Tiago Monteiro.

“Right now there are a group of partners being put together, and it is looking very promising that Jon will be back out in the car with us in the near future, it just takes time. The uncertainty of the Bahrain meetings certainly hasn’t helped the situation.”

Following the GP2 Series rounds in Bahrain, the championship will resume at Barcelona on 11/12/13 May.
