Lancaster to compete in GP2 with Ocean

Calverley’s Jon Lancaster will compete in the GP2 Series this year after signing a deal to race with Tiago Monteiro’s, Ocean Racing Technology.

The 23 year-old former Formula Renault 3.5 race winner and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Vice Champion, will partner GP3 graduate Nigel Melker in the team that produced former Formula One driver Karun Chandhok.

“Words cannot describe how I feel about this opportunity,” said Lancaster. “There have been a lot of ups and downs over the past few years, but now that I have this opportunity, I’m looking forward to getting the job done.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has worked so hard to make this happen and I look forward to working with Ocean Racing Technology.”

Lancaster will start his pre-season testing with three days at Barcelona starting from, Tuesday, 6th March.

The first round of the 2012 GP2 Series will get underway at Kuala Lumpur on 23rd – 25th March 2012.
