FIA World Touring Car Championship convert Sébastien Loeb says he’s yet to produce his best form since switching codes from rallying to circuit racing – but reckons he knows what he has to do to get it right.
The French legend took two wins for Citroën Racing in the 2014 WTCC but has told UK magazine AUTOSPORT that he could have been more successful against team-mates Yvan Muller and José María López, who claimed the drivers’ title.
“My inexperience in racing is definitely quite important,” Loeb told AUTOSPORT. “To overtake at the right time and protect my place at the right time driving in traffic is an area I need to improve. It is one of the most complicated things for me.”
Loeb is also planning to pay more attention to the set-up of his Citroën C-Elysée WTCC. “It is much more important in the WTCC to adapt the set-up of the car to all of the tracks," he said. “In rallying you need a good set-up, but if you have approximately a good set-up you can manage to do the times.”
Forty-year-old Loeb placed third in the final WTCC standings in 2014 with two wins and six podiums.
