"To have him in the team helps us"

Having Yvan Muller as a team-mate has helped to get Sébastien Loeb on the right track in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

Loeb was a circuit-racing rookie in comparison to his fellow Frenchman when he signed up for his – and Citroën’s – WTCC switch for the 2014 season and says having Muller on side has been very handy indeed.

“For sure to have him in the team helps us to grow up quicker and improve the car,” said Loeb, the nine-time world rally champion. “His experience of the races, the discipline all helps the team. He gives me a lot of advice and I know the reference is the best around. I know what is the wrong way and the good way to go.”

Muller is the WTCC’s most successful driver with four titles and 45 race wins to his name. Despite Loeb’s lack of WTCC know-how, Muller says his younger Alsatian has helped him to improve.

“He learns from me of course but I learn from him as well because his level is good and we always have something to learn from our team-mates, especially the quality like he is,” said Muller.
