Freddy Loix believes he has given himself the best possible chance to win Rallye Sanremo for the first time – and extend his sequence of Intercontinental Rally Challenge event victories to four – following a successful test in the build-up to the all-asphalt contest.

The BFO-Skoda Rally Team driver sampled three different test roads and said he had a “very good feeling” with his Fabia Super 2000.

“Yet again I had a very good feeling with the car straight away and I just want the rally to start now,” said the 39-year-old. “I hope I can win but I know it will be very difficult. Sanremo is always one of the most difficult rallies for me. Sometimes I’m driving well, sometimes not and I don’t know why. But after a good test and a good recce I feel relaxed and ready.”
