Freddy Loix’s co-driver Frédéric Miclotte has conceded that winning Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés will be a tall order.
The Belgians are fourth overall in their BFO Škoda Fabia, nine seconds behind leader Jan Kopecký with four stages of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier left to run.
“We’ll continue to push hard but I think just for second place because it will be very difficult for the win,” said Miclotte.
Loix (pictured) and Miclotte started Friday’s final stage in second overall, 3.1s behind Kopecký. However, they fell to fourth at the end of the run, which Miclotte put down to a problem with the side windows misting up in their Fabia S2000.
“We lost some time with mist on the windows and we could not really get the rhythm,” said Loix.
