Polestar Cyan Racing’s breakthrough FIA World Touring Car Championship victory in China last month has been described as a “morale booster” but one that won’t change the Volvo factory team’s approach for the remainder of 2016 and beyond.

Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar, led the Swedish squad’s celebrations following Thed Björk’s win in the Opening Race at WTCC Race of China in Shanghai. He then insisted the hard work would continue unabated.

“This has been an amazing weekend with a fantastic race and a fantastic first victory for Thed, us and Volvo Cars,” Murdzevski Schedvin said. “We have had many guests and commercial activities connected to this race, so to be able to deliver a win here is of course special for us. This victory is also an important morale booster as we have a lot of work ahead of us to be frequent in the top of the championship next year and beyond.”

The 2016 WTCC season concludes at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar from 24/25 November.
