Freddy Loix continues to lead Rali Vinho Madeira after winning the second stage of leg two, the 13.13-kilometre Ponta do Pargo test. However, there was drama for Britain’s Kris Meeke, who reached the end of the stage with a broken alternator belt on his Peugeot 207 Super 2000.
With no charge to his car’s battery, Meeke has been forced to make frantic repairs in order to continue on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event, which resumes with stage 16 at 10:08hrs local time.
To compound his woes, Jan Kopecký has moved ahead of Meeke into second place, albeit 25.9s behind Škoda Motorsport team-mate Freddy Loix.
