Benito Guerra no longer wants to play a supporting role in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Having triumphed in one of the WRC’s key support categories, the Production Car World Rally Championship this year, Guerra now wants to take the next step in his career by stepping up to a World Rally Car in 2013.

The Mexican clinched the PWRC award on the season-finale in Spain earlier this month and has ambitions for future progression.

“I would like to drive a faster car next year,” Guerra told WRC.com. “I hope to get enough sponsorship to manage to drive a World Rally Car. That will be fantastic. I don’t know yet. I have to talk with my Mexican sponsors but let’s see. We are doing things correctly and according to plan. We are in a very good position in time, I’m 27 and we are Production world champions.”

Mexico hosts round three of the 2013 WRC from 7-10 March.
