Marrakech, FP2: Coronel quickest in WTCC in Marrakech

Tom Coronel was a surprise pacesetter in his Chevrolet in Free Practice 2 for FIA WTCC AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco.

Coronel went a quarter of a second clear of the rest of the field right at the end of the session with a superb 1m21.824s lap of the new-look Circuit Moulay El Hassan.

Behind Coronel, the order was close, with Honda’s Rob Huff leading Citroën’s José María López, and the other two Civic WTCCs of Norbert Michelisz and Tiago Monteiro following behind.

As in the first session, Nicky Catsburg was the quickest LADA in sixth, with team-mate Gabriele Tarquini eighth behind Yvan Muller.

James Thompson posted the best time in the WTCC Trophy in ninth ahead of the Moroccan hero Mehdi Bennani.

The Qualifying session begins at 15h00 local time, with MAC3 following at 16h30.
