Dušan Borkovíc has what it takes to fight for top-five places in the FIA World Touring Car Championship this season.
That’s the verdict of fellow WTCC race ace Norbert Michelisz, a three-time winner in the WTCC who finished fourth overall in last year’s final standings.
Michelisz, from Hungary, was guest of honour at a media function organised by Borkovíc in Serbia yesterday. He said: “I am really proud of Dušan because I know how hard it is to succeed [being] from a country that doesn’t have a rich auto racing history. In the beginning of last season Dušan had some difficulties like we all did in our first season, but in the second part of the season he showed an amazing talent. It will be a lot better this year and I am sure that Dušan can be in the top five with this speed. Dušan hasn’t tested a lot but he showed his skills when he did. He had the fastest lap from all Honda drivers on the second day of [a recent] test.”
Borkovíc claimed a career-high third place in Japan last season and switches to a Proteam Racing Honda Civic WTCC for the 2015 season.
