Andreas Mikkelsen prepared for the FxPro Cyprus Rally with a short test on asphalt this morning.

With the route of the finale to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge season using more than 50 per cent asphalt, Mikkelsen’s M-Sport team was keen to discover how his Fiesta S2000 would perform on Tarmac using the mandatory gravel tyres.

“It’s very difficult driving on Tarmac with gravel tyres but I’m looking forward to it,” said the 21-year-old from Norway. “It felt strange at first but we started to get a good feeling even though we only did 20 kilometres. Hopefully it will be a good rally for us.”

Mikkelsen is seventh in the IRC drivers’ standings and could move up to sixth if he finishes in the top two on the mixed-surface event.
