Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion Andreas Mikkelsen will appear on television in the United Kingdom on Friday evening.

The 22-year-old, who claimed the IRC crown in a SKODA UK Motorsport Fabia Super 2000, took part in a 12-car navigational rally as part of an initiative by Britain’s governing body to highlight an
affordable form of grassroots motorsport.

Motoring programme Fifth Gear, which airs on terrestrial station Channel 5, will show Mikkelsen in action with one of the programme’s presenters Vicki Butler-Henderson, who performed
navigational duties. They competed in a Fabia vRS, the road-going version of the car Mikkelsen used to win the IRC rounds in Scotland and Cyprus this season.

“It was great fun and clearly a fantastic way to start in motorsport”, said Mikkelsen. “It’s important for a young driver to gain experience any way he or she can and, more importantly, it’s the perfect place for a budding co-driver to start off.”
