Andreas Mikkelsen has rewarded ŠKODA UK Motorsport boss Cathie Sleigh for her unwavering support by taking her for a high-speed ride in his Fabia Super 2000 at a promotional event in England recently.
Sleigh has been instrumental in ŠKODA UK’s participation in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the signing of Mikkelsen, which culminated in the partnership winning the IRC title in 2011.
“Despite promising for 18 months to do this, no one really thought they’d actually live long enough to see Cathie climb into a Fabia S2000 and be driven at speed – but she loved it and Andreas still has is job,” said a spokesperson for the British team.
Mikkelsen resumes his defence of the IRC crown on Barum Czech Rally Zlín from 31 August-2 September. He currently heads the drivers’ standings by 49 points following his victory on the Sibiu Rally in Romania last month.
