Andreas Mikkelsen says he has pace in reserve on Sata Rallye Açores as he battles for his maiden win in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Driving a ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia Super 2000 alongside fellow Norwegian Ola Fløene, the 22-year-old is 9.7s behind leader and factory ŠKODA driver Juho Hänninen following the sixth stage of the gravel event.

“I was too cautious on the last part of stage six and it won’t be easy to make up the time but the car is very good and I’m not driving at a crazy speed yet – I still have another gear left,” said Mikkelsen at the midday service halt in Ponta Delgada. “Whether I want to risk going flat out so early on I don’t know. We will see what happens this afternoon.”
