Bamboo-engineering’s James Nash managed to build a small leading gap in the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy, thanks to a couple of second places he scored in Japan.
Race victories for the trophy went to Nash’s team-mate Alex MacDowall in Race 1 and to Proteam Racing’s Mehdi Bennani in Race 2. Both the winners also finished second overall in the respective races.
Yokohama Trophy podiums were completed by Fernando Monje and Charles Ng who classified third in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively.
With the trophy’s previous leader, Michel Nykjær dropped by Nika Racing for the last three race meetings of the season, the title fight looks pretty much restricted to the bamboo-engineering duo, with Nash ahead of MacDowall by 32 points. Currently Nykjær is still in second place.
However, with 66 points still at stake (as double score is awarded in the Macau final races) Mehdi Bennani is theoretically still in contention, because he lies fourth, 63 points off the leader.
