Thierry Neuville believes he can show more pace on ADAC Rallye Deutschland following an impressive start to the FIA World Rally Championship round.
Neuville is fourth overall after three stages, 6.7s adrift of third-placed Jari-Matti Latvala in a factory Ford Fiesta.
“It’s been a good morning for us and I think we are driving well, not making any mistakes,” said Neuville. “We have had some little problems with the gearbox and I’ve not been completely confident to push really hard but it’s okay.”
Neuville reported a gear shift issue developed seven kilometres into the first stage. While it wasn’t slowing him down as such, he said it had affected his concentration. “It disturbed me a little bit,” said Neuville.
