Thierry Neuville has vowed to put the disappointment of his exit from day one of the Cyprus Rally behind him by going “flat out” on Sunday’s Cyprus Golden Stage Rally, which he will contest in his Team Peugeot Belgium-Luxembourg 207 Super 2000.

Neuville, 23, had been in contention for the IRC title when a puncture and alternator failure ruined his bid on Friday’s fourth stage.

He will start the Golden Stage Rally as one of the favourites for victory and has vowed not to disappoint alongside co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul.

“We showed today the pace is there and now we have nothing to lose but to go flat out on the Golden Stage Rally and try to win the money,” said Neuville, who will chase a prize fund of 150,000 Euros on the mixed-surface event.

“The stage is very fast, very open and I like driving in these conditions. I believe I can be very fast and I know that I have the car to do it.”

The Cyprus Golden Stage Rally consists of two runs over a 19.43-kilometre stage, the Golden Stage. The test includes sections of gravel and asphalt and will be shown live on Eurosport. Run one gets underway at 12:10hrs local time with the second run starting at 15:10hrs local time.
