Martin Kangur will start Rally San Marino this week with a new co-driver and a renewed sense of belief following his IRC 2WD Cup victory on the Geko Ypres Rally in Belgium recently.

Kangur heads into the gravel event joint top with Harry Hunt in the chase for the two-wheel-drive crown. He will link up with co-driver Ken Järveoja for the rally, his third different partner in as many events.

“Ken and I are old friends and have worked together in the past,” said the Catwees Honda Racing-entered driver. “It’s great to be driving with him again and I’m sure he’ll help me get into the points."

Of his prospects of success in his JAS Motorsport Honda Civic Type R, Kangur admits Hunt will offer strong opposition.

"Harry is obviously the man to beat this weekend and I think we have a good chance,” said Kangur. “The conditions here in San Marino are very different to the faster gravel I’m used to in Estonia, but I still feel at home on gravel and hopefully my experience on the surface will give me an edge. My goal is to win and score maximum points. And of course, keep Harry at a safe distance.”
