Scottish hero Alister McRae won’t restart on the final day RACMSA Rally of Scotland, round 10 of the 11-event Intercontinental Rally Challenge season, despite initial hopes that his PROTON Satria could be repaired for Sunday’s closing seven stages.

McRae was in the top 10 when his PROTON Motorsports entry ground to a halt on the first run through Errochty after a rock holed the car’s sump and depleted its engine supply.

The damaged engine that put Mark Donnelly out of the lead of the IRC 2WD Cup on Saturday afternoon has proved terminal and means the Northern Irishman won’t restart on the final day of the event in his Clio R3.
