Andreas Mikkelsen will adopt a low-risk strategy when he restarts the GEKO Ypres Rally under SupeRally regulations this morning.
The ŠKODA UK Motorsport star retired from the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event in a ditch after just a handful of kilometres of the opening special stage on Friday.
His team boss, Pierfrancesco Zanchi, said: “With almost 195 kilometres of stages it is a long day and a good opportunity for him to test for next year and to try a few different solutions on the car with the engineers. Also, there was no big damage to the car and as we are here it makes sense to restart.
“But the strategy is not to take any risks by going for fastest stage times because the conditions will be tricky with rain and mud. The main objective is to train, really go and enjoy himself and to also let the spectators have some fun by watching him on the stages.”
