Jan Kopecký says neither he nor team-mate Juho Hänninen will be subjected to team orders on Rally Islas Canarias.

The Škoda Motorsport drivers are separated by 11.8 seconds with three stages of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier remaining.

“I can drive how I want and Juho also,” said Kopecký. “There are no team orders and I’ve not even spoken to Juho about it.”

Hänninen added: “I will ask the team if they want me to still keep taking risks but I am not thinking about it. I am just thinking about the next three stages and getting to the finish.”

If the top two positions remain unchanged during the final loop, Hänninen will take a seven-point title lead into the next round in Sardinia from 4-6 June. Kopecký will draw level with Guy Wilks for second.
