Hong Kong driver Darryl O’Young managed to claim his first race victories in the WTCC Yokohama Trophy at Macau, that he considers like his home racetrack.

After setting pole position on Friday – the third in three years for him on the Guia circuit – O’Young drove his bamboo-engineering Chevrolet Cruze car to a brilliant fifth position overall in the first race, close behind the top runners.

During the second race, O’Young benefitted from the different incidents that eliminated Alex MacDowall, Norbert Michelisz and Pepe Oriola. Staying off all the troubles, he was able to score his second victory of the day in the Yokohama Trophy and to finish again in fifth position overall.

“I’m happy! I scored more points today than in the rest of the season! Winning on what I consider my home racetrack was very special. In the first race the incident at the start helped me to create a huge gap. I tried to stay with the front runners as much as possible. In the second race a lot of things were happening. Everybody was colliding and this gave me a great opportunity to win again,” said O’Young.
