Sébastien Ogier secured his fifth win in seven rallies at 72nd LOTOS Rally Poland on Sunday to extend his lead in the FIA World Rally Championship.

The Frenchman led the seventh round of the series from Friday afternoon, holding off Volkswagen Polo R team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen to win by 11.9sec after almost 300km of furious competition in scorching temperatures in north-east Poland.

Ott Tänak prevented a Volkswagen podium clean sweep by claiming third in a Ford Fiesta RS, matching his career-best result. Jari-Matti Latvala crashed in the final stage while attempting to catch the Estonian.

Ogier won the final live TV Power Stage to claim three bonus points. Tänak took two points in second and Mikkelsen secured one.
