Mads Ostberg says he remains on course to win rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship next season, despite Citroen’s decision to take Dani Sordo and not him for 2013.

The Norwegian - who won Vodafone Rally de Portugal in April - and Sordo went head-to-head in the race for the seat alongside Mikko Hirvonen in the revamped Citroen Total World Rally Team line-up next year. Despite the French team’s decision, Ostberg says he is still very much in the fight next season.

“For me now,” said Ostberg, “it’s a decision between Ford and MINI for next year. It is not a disaster that I didn’t get the Citroen drive. I absolutely still have options and I’m looking at those options right now. I will make a decision in the next week or two.

“I feel I have had a good season and I feel that I have proved myself this year,” said Ostberg. “And I feel I’m ready to fight for wins next year.”

Ostberg added that his potential for winning rallies depended largely on the test schedule his chosen team could offer.

“I need 20 days or more for testing next year,” said Ostberg. “I need to be in the car regularly to compete with the other guys.”
