Racing giant Dušan Borković drove through the pain barrier in Argentina – but the Serbian’s determination went unrewarded after a crash in race two meant he couldn’t build on the 11th place scored in the first encounter.
Borković is 2.7 metres tall and is struggling to squeeze his frame into the Proteam Racing Honda Civic WTCC he is using in this year’s FIA World Touring Car Championship. His predicament is complicated by the fact that technical regulations currently prevent him from modifying his seating position.
Following his 11th-place finish and capture of five Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy points in race one, the NIS Petrol-backed driver was running in the top 10 in race two despite considerable pain in his left leg. He was battling with Tom Chilton and Rickard Rydell when he spun onto the grass at turn three, inflicting front-end damage to his Honda in the process.
