Vitor Pascoal is only interested in scoring maximum Portuguese championship points on Rali Vinho Madeira this week according to his co-driver Mário Castro.

Pascoal, who drives a Peugeot 207 S2000, will be making his second start in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season on the island event, which also counts as a round of the Portugal’s domestic series. After four events he trails Bernardo Sousa by 10 points.

“We will do our best but the most important thing is the Portuguese championship and finishing ahead of Bernardo [Sousa],” said Castro. “We are not looking for a top result in the IRC because it won’t be possible. To finish in the top eight would be fine.”

Castro and Pascoal have competed together in Madeira on two previous occasions although this year’s event marks Castro’s ninth start.
