Polestar’s Head of Motorsport, Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, insists the hard work must continue despite his squad’s best showing so far in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
Thed Björk was in the fight for second place in the Opening Race before he slipped back to sixth due to damage caused by earlier contact, albeit not before setting the fastest lap of the race. New team-mate Néstor Girolami then finished a career-high fifth in the Main Race to underline a strong first appearance in the factory Volvo S60 Polestar TC1.
“If you expand your testing efforts, as we have done, this is the kind of evolvement you are expecting and hoping for” said Murdzevski Schedvin. “This is the most competitive championship we have ever competed in and we are happy for these results today, but we will work hard again tomorrow and remain patient for what is to come further on.”
