Toni Gardemeister believes he has finally found a good set-up on his TGS Worldwide Škoda Fabia Super 2000 but now fears further progress might be stifled due to a reported power problem.
Gardemeister is 10th overall in his first appearance for his self-run team, 2.2s behind factory PROTON driver Giandomenico Basso.
“The car feels much better and the tyres are working very well but I couldn’t use sixth gear last night and today it feels like there is a problem with the throttle, like the car is very lazy,” he said at midmorning service in Las Palmas. “It’s even worse today because the stages are quite high.”
