Broken front driveshaft on stage 10

Martin Prokop has spoken of his disappointment after losing his lead on the FxPro Cyprus Rally, the 12th and final round of the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Czech Prokop moved into first place on stage seven and had pulled 23.2s clear of Nasser Al-Attiyah after going fastest on stage nine. However, a broken front driveshaft on stage 10 delayed him by several minutes and has almost certainly cost him a shot at victory.

“Sometimes it’s better to stay at home because we are always in a good position when something happens,” said Prokop after completing the stage. “It’s really disappointing because I’d been doing a good job but again we lost out because of the car. It’s a real shame because we should have been fighting for the win.”

Prokop is currently fourth overall as he heads to service in Limassol.
